Eddymurphy successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Modelling cancer surveillance data” at Amsterdam UMC, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
In his research, Eddymurphy developed novel statistical methods to estimate multi-state processes of cancer progression using surveillance data, accounting for censoring due to intervention. His work provides new tools to better estimate both population-level and personalized risks of developing cancer precursor lesions and cancer.
Building on this work, Eddymurphy will continue as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on the development of time-to-event microsimulation models to optimize colorectal cancer surveillance strategies for individuals with Lynch syndrome.

Congratulations, Dr. Akwiwu!
