Two PhD vacancies on improving cancer screening in the Netherlands

2 July 2024

We currently have two vacancies for PhD students on cancer screening.

Colorectal cancer screening

The first vacancy concerns a PhD position on improving colorectal cancer screening using health economics. In this project, you will use an existing health-economic model, the ASCCA model, to perform several evaluations in which different options to further improve the Dutch screening program will be compared. Besides that, you will work on external validation of the ASCCA model against registries and clinical studies as well as on an evaluation of model uncertainty.

Cervical cancer screening

The second vacancy concerns a PhD project in which you will be involved in the model-based assessment of risk-based screening strategies for cervical cancer prevention. You will contribute to the further development of our statistical and mathematical HPV modelling framework, and apply simulation studies to weigh the costs, harms and health benefits of screening to identify equitable, acceptable and cost-effective strategies.
