Elia received his MSc in Biostatistics at the University of Milano-Bicocca. He worked on his master thesis at Karolinska Institutet, centered on
the impact of transplant characteristics and complications on patients with leukemia. Thereafter he started working at Erasmus University
Medical Centre as a junior researcher, where he focused on environmental stressors and quality of life, applying methods such as meta-regression and latent markov models.
He joined Amsterdam University Medical Centre as a PhD student and will study how to improve clinical trial designs with small sample sizes, specifically for neurological ultra rare diseases, applying Bayesian methods.
