Veerle Coupé is professor of medical decision making in cancer care and prevention. Her research concerns mathematical modeling of the development and progression of cancer, in order to predict clinical and economic outcomes of prevention strategies, diagnostics, and treatment. She built micro-simulation models for the evaluation of screening for colorectal cancer and cervical cancer and for the evaluation of treatments in melanoma, lung cancer and colorectal cancer. To estimate core parameters of these micro-simulation models, she focusses on the development of tailor-made statistical methods for registry data. Veerle Coupé teaches in the area of statistical methodology, mathematical modeling and cost-effectiveness.
